Abuse in Later Life
Abuse in later life, sometimes known as ‘Elder Abuse’ occurs in all communities and affects people of all ethnic, cultural, racial, economic, and religious backgrounds. TTD provides advocacy services to address the needs of people in later life (ages 50 or older) who are experiencing or have experienced emotional, psychological, physical, financial, or sexual abuse. The abusive person may be a spouse or former spouse, partner, adult child, extended family member, or caregiver.
TTD collaborates with community partners to enhance safety for all victims. As part of the abuse in later life program, TTD staff may assist with:
- Direct service, safety planning, and support
- Consultation and education for community partners
- Court advocacy
- Resources and referrals to other services
