More About Through These Doors
Only one of its kind in the county
Through These Doors began its work in 1977 as Family Crisis Shelter and continues to work together with survivors to offer holistic services, give voice to their experiences, and shape our community’s response to the issue of domestic abuse.
Social Change Advocacy
TTD supports individuals experiencing domestic violence, while working to end domestic violence everywhere. We connect with survivors and their supportive networks to strengthen our community as a whole and to create solidarity around the issue of violence against women.
Community Focused
TTD calls on community members, partners, leaders, and ourselves to respond, repair, and prevent the damage caused by violence.
Intentional Inclusivity
TTD celebrates the experiences of people of all ages and identities and center the needs and voices of marginalized groups in our programs, services, and practices.
Survivor Centered
TTD engages in meaningful relationships that affirm the whole person, honoring our interdependence with each other and our environment.
Innovative Services
TTD learns from survivors and community members, developing and adapting services to respond to the changing world. We help rather than rescue survivors.
