TTD maintains an advocate on-site at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services Child Protective Services (CPS) system. The CPS liaison supports domestic abuse victims and survivors who are involved in the CPS system.

The primary intent of the Maine Domestic Violence CPS liaison program is to strengthen the relationship between Maine’s domestic violence and child protective systems, enhance early identification, intervention, and system collaboration in cases of intimate partner abuse and child protection that will:

  1. Increase the safety of non-offending parents and, thereby, the safety of children.
  2. Decrease short and long-term physical and emotional risks to all victims.
  3. Minimize separation between them.
  4. Hold batterers accountable.
